To be able to enrol on the course participants will need to
have completed and been accredited on the Introduction to Drugs
Awareness course or have proof of the equivalent.
The
course is in two units, each having a 30 hour duration.
Each
individual will be required to produce a portfolio of work on the
course to show that they have achieved the learning outcomes.
This is a very brief synopsis of the course
content:
Basic working of the brain and the effects of
illicit
drugs on it.
Evaluation - the reasons for evaluating
work and methods of evaluation.
National and local drugs
policy.
What makes for good quality drug education?
Look at
instigating change.
Look at arrest referral and DTTO's (Drug
Testing and Treatment Orders)
