Drug Name  Street Name  Basic Facts  Legal Classification 
Amphetamine  Speed, whizz, billy  Increases energy, surpress sleep and appetite. Leaves user feeling fatigued, depressed and hungry. Regular use can lower the immune system. Can cause delusion & paranoia. Can damage heart.   Class B (Class A if injected) 
Cannabis  Dope, Spliff, Grass, Herb, Pot, Weed, Blow & Ganga  Makes user relaxed & giggly but can cause some to become anxious with an increased number of users seeking help for mental health problems. Large amounts can make you lethargic and forgetful. Regular users can have short-term memory loss. Risk of bronchial damage, throat, head and lung cancers.  Class B  
Cocaine  Coke, charlie, White lady  Makes users fell strong, confident and alert. Afterwards feel tired, depressed and hungry. Risk of severe damage to nasal passage through snorting. Can cause heart problems and psychological dependency. Regular users can feel restless, nauseous, can't sleep and feel persecuted.  Class A 
Crack  Rock and wash  Intense high followed by devastating low. Highly addictive. Can cause death from heart problems, severe harm to lungs and respiratory system, can die of an overdose. When you hit the low users feel anxious, panicky, paranoid and aggresive. Can develop psychosis.   Class A 
Ecstasy  E, Mitsubishis, XTC, Doves, Adams  Makes users feel alert, calm, mellow, energetic, confident, warm & loving. Can cause anxiety, paranoia and stiffness in the body, depression, tiredness, dehydration and heat stroke. Can cause a reaction which can stop urination which may lead to death or brain damage. Can cause psychosis, heart disease, kidney & liver damage.  Class A 
Heroin  Smack, brown, scag, H  Small dose gives a feeling of well being, larger doses feeling of drowsiness and relaxation. Heroin is very addictive. Many addicts use the drug to feel normal. Can cause death through overdose. High risk of Hepatitis B and C, HIV/AIDS. Physical withdrawal.  Class A 
Ketamine  K, Special K, Super K  Is an anaesthetic. Can hallucinate and have 'out of body experiences'. can cause vomiting, slurring of speech/blurred vision, numbness and temporary paralysis. People can injure themselves and not be able to feel the pain.  Class C 
LSD  Acid, Trips, Tabs  Will cause hallucinations lasting 8-12 hours. Objects, colour, sounds, distance and space can be distorted. Can have good and bad trips, bad trips can be terrifying. Once a trip starts it can't be stopped. Can have flashbacks. Can cause mental health problems.  Class A 
Magic Mushrooms  Mushies, Shrooms  Similar to LSD but not as powerful.  All magic mushrooms are now Class A 
Solvents  Glue, Lighter fuel, petrol, aerosol spray cans  Effects similar to being very drunk. May hallucinate. Can cause instant death. Risk of suffocation or asphyxiation. Vomiting. Can pass out.  It's illegal to sell to anyone under 18 if you suspect they will abuse them. 
Poppers (Amyl Nitrite)  Liquid gold, TNT, Ram  Intense head rush, Headache, feeling sick & faint. Regular use can cause skin problems, if spilt on skin can burn. Heart problems.  Legal 
Alcohol    Reduces inhibitions can make people aggressive enables people to do things they may not normally do. Can lead to participation in unsafe sex, violence, breaking the law or at risk from others. Alcohol poisoning. Heart and liver damage. Increase risk of cancer.   Illegal to buy or consume in a public place if under 18 unless 16/17 and eating a meal in a restaurant (see drugs and the law).
