ADAD Play - Wasted For a number of years DPEAP have
used Theatre in Education as a way of imparting drug information to
young people. Over recent years we have commissioned Theatre ADAD,
who have established a reputation as a provider of specialist
Theatre in Education programmes.
The "Wasted" programme is
targeted at young people in secondary education, and comprises three
parts:-
The Play - which tells the story of Ryan, who
is at a new school in a new town. He needs to gain the respect and
acceptance of his new friends. The play follows Ryan's journey from
a relative innocent to a more seasoned drug-user and his eventual
downfall.
The Workshop - explores young people's
knowledge of and attitudes towards drugs, by interaction with the
characters from the play.
Teacher's Notes - provide
staff with a comprehensive information resource and with ideas and
plans for follow-up lessons.
We have undertaken an evaluation
of the effectiveness of the play, the results of this showed this to
be an effective way of presenting information to young
people.
