The Drugs
Awareness "Stage One" is a five-week course that provides adults
with basic balanced drugs information, including the historical
perspective, the wider debate and the legal implications.
Specific studies focus on Cannabis, Dance Drugs and Alcohol,
with a speaker from Alcoholics Anonymous delivering a fascinating
presentation.
Participants come from a wide variety of
backgrounds and have many reasons for attending, both professional
and personal. The course is open to anyone with an interest in
learning about substance misuse e.g. Teachers, Social Workers,
School Nurses, Teacher Support Assistants, Parents etc. This wide
diversity of people makes the course more stimulating and
interesting.
The Course is accredited with the Open College
Network so participants can obtain a recognised qualification. It is
run over a five-week period and on completion of the course, credits
are awarded. The course is run in various locations across the
county, approximately two or three times per year.
