A Government Paper on Drug Prevention Initiatives states that
"Parents have significant needs of their own in relation to drug
education and coping skills yet parental support is fundamental to
the delivery of effective drug prevention work in
schools".
Drug presentations for parents, are offered to all
schools in Bucks completely free of charge. The hosting school
invites their parents to an evening presentation by Janet Rowley the
Project Manager from DPEAP. Janet provides basic balanced drugs
information via a PowerPoint presentation, followed by a
question/answer session.
Parents will have a chance to see
what each individual drug looks like and the paraphernalia that is
used with it. They hear the latest street names used and are given
guidance on how to recognise the signs of use for the individual
drugs. The presentation prepares the parent/carer for an informed
discussion on drug abuse, with their young
people.
