Taking the lead in Primary School Drugs Education

Clear D is a multi-agency drug awareness-raising programme for Year 6 pupils and their parents in the Wycombe and Chiltern & South Bucks area.

The programme is delivered, at no cost to the school, via: -

Education (Teachers)
Thames Valley Police (Licensed Officers)
Drugs Prevention Education & Awareness Project (DPEAP)

The programme comprises: -A workshop for Teachers to explore and experiment with teaching materials and methods. Classroom Session 1 and 3 delivered by a class teacher to explore risks and attitudes towards drugs and expand on knowledge thus improving pupil confidence and self-esteem.Classroom Session 2 delivered by a licensed police officer who establishes children’s drug knowledge and corrects misinformation.A parent awareness session, delivered by a member of DPEAP (usually in the evening) to provide basic information about drugs to enable parents to respond positively to their children and build on work delivered in the classroom. This project is a carefully selected programme that has been independently evaluated for its effectiveness, by Westminster College, Oxford. A particularly important area is the work done with the parents in the evening, to enable parents to discuss the issues with their children, with accurate and up to date information.
