Awareness Project (DPEAP)
The programme comprises: -A
workshop for Teachers to explore and experiment with teaching
materials and methods. Classroom Session 1 and 3 delivered by a
class teacher to explore risks and attitudes towards drugs and
expand on knowledge thus improving pupil confidence and
self-esteem.Classroom Session 2 delivered by a licensed police
officer who establishes children’s drug knowledge and corrects
misinformation.A parent awareness session, delivered by a member of
DPEAP (usually in the evening) to provide basic information about
drugs to enable parents to respond positively to their children and
build on work delivered in the classroom. This project is a carefully
selected programme that has been independently evaluated for its
effectiveness, by Westminster College, Oxford. A particularly
important area is the work done with the parents in the evening, to
enable parents to discuss the issues with their children, with
accurate and up to date information.
